About Purple Tea Cancer Awareness Coalition
Since 1999, the Purple Tea Cancer Awareness Coalition has been dedicated to raising cancer awareness and providing valuable educational resources to the community. Originally established as the African American Tea with Friends, the organization was inspired by the vision of breast cancer survivor Ollie Ware-Jones, who wanted to help women navigate a cancer diagnosis through education, early detection, and access to available resources.
Today, the Coalition has expanded its mission to promote awareness of all types of cancer and encourage healthier lifestyle choices among individuals and families. Through community education, annual events, expert speakers, and outreach initiatives, we strive to empower people with knowledge that supports informed health decisions.
We believe that education, awareness, and community support can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Our goal is to create a more informed and supportive community where individuals understand the importance of cancer prevention, early detection, and access to available resources.
